Honeymoon: Boston

Oh Boston.  I would go back in a second.  It was a perfect way to end the summer and begin our marriage!  So much old history and beautiful architecture.  The best part?  You can walk everywhere!

Not a huge Baseball fan but we visited Fenway Park and well I loved it.  Although the hot dog and pretzel may have been my favourite part.

These are just a few pictures to document our awesome trip.

Acorn Street was by far my favourite place in all of Boston!

Makeup Bag Favourites

Today I thought I would share some of my makeup favourites, because who doesn't like makeup?  These items trump all my other products, which are also loved, but these I would repurchase over and over again.  For those of you that are need of something new, or just want to mix it up a little I recommend all these products!
The products shown are as follows:

Urban Decay Naked Basics Pallet   Perfect for everyday.  All matte shadows except for one highlight colour that is great for the inner corner.
Mabelline Falsies Mascara:  I don't spend too much money on mascaras because drugstore ones are so great!  This I have repurchased many times, doesn't flake or smudge and makes my lashes look longer and thicker.
Smashbox Photofinish Light Primer:  Keeps my oily skin at bay and makes my foundation go on so much smoother.
Nars Eyeshadow Primer:  Never once has any eye product creased while wearing this, so great!
Mac Blush in Blushbaby:  Somehow adds a rosie flush and sun kissed glow all at the same time.
Hardcandy Baked Bronzer in Tiki:  Now I never use this as a bronzer because it is way too shimery for my oily skin but it makes an awesome affordable highlighter for those cheekbones!
Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in Birthday Suit: Perfect base for a neutral eye.
Makeup Forever Matte Velvet + Foundation:  LOVE this, probably my 5th bottle, looks natural, provides great coverage and keeps the shine away.
Benefit Porefessional:  Great for those days when I want my skin to look flawless, smooths over pores like a dream.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer:  This bronzer has been with me for a while now (a little beat up), it is the perfect colour, and doesn't make me look muddy or orange!

What are your favourite makeup items?

Closet Organization

Don't you just love a clean closet?  Makes deciding what to wear that much easier!  Since I put away some winter clothes and pulled out some spring/summer clothes (feels like you just got a bunch of new stuff p.s.) I decided my closet could use a cleaning and a freshen up.

Everything I hang are things that I would otherwise have to iron or steam if they were folded, pure laziness is my reasoning.  The order in which I hang things goes from dressy tank tops, dressy short sleeves, then it goes into long sleeve button up's, blazers and blouses based on colour.  Everything behind that is skirts, dress pants and dresses.

On the shelf above the things that are hanging, from left to right are: shorts, pants, tank tops, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, long sleeve sweaters.  Above that is some Christmas decorations ready to be moved to the apartment and shoes!

Lately I have been folding my scarfs because I found having them hung on a hanger left them looking crinkly, plus now I can see them all clearly!  The shelving unit is from Ikea and provides some great extra storage for my bags, extra sweaters, old t-shirts, art supplies and well stuff.

Didn't think about taking a before picture, but trust me it was a disaster zone.  Hope this inspires some closet cleansing!

DIY Potential

So procrastinating seems to be a problem right around final exams.  What am I doing while I procrastinate you may ask? I am searching for awesome potential DIY's for our apartment.  I have fallen in love with hairpin style coffee tables, definitely a project I could do myself! These pictures are just some DIY's I stumbled upon today while I should have been finishing floor plans and picking out finishes.  It seems pretty simple but  suppose that will be decided when I'm done!  My own DIY will be a must so stay tuned to see how this turns out!

Apartment!

What is this you may ask?  It's a key to our new apartment! Now although we aren't moving in until August it is so exciting to have a space to call our own.  I'm sure there will be plenty of posts showing what we are going to do to the space and how we make it our own :)
Now being the crazy person I am, Ross and I went in on Monday and measured the whole thing so I could make a floor plan to see what things would fit...yes I did that. But it worked great!  Now we know how we want to move things in and what else we may need.  So excited for this new adventure!

Wedding: Still Planning...

When I tell people the things I already have planned they are generally surprised.  We have a venue, caterer, officiant, the dress, the bridesmaid dresses, favors and some other small things.  But in my head when they say "wow, good for you guys, so organized!" in my head I'm thinking "pfft, ya right, my head may explode at any moment, there is SO much more to do!"  My response is generally, slowly but surely though, no need to push my stress onto others.

These two images below give a snapshot as to what I'm hoping our day will look like.  Although I am hoping most of the reception will be outside this barn is pretty similar to the one at our venue. The ceremony will be on a lawn which we are renting white folding chairs (yet another thing to do/person to call, quotes to gather).  Lately I have been thinking about running flower petals along the isles to add a little something, the ceremony doesn't need that much because the property is already so beautiful.

Our theme is carnival, not crazy circus, more carnival garden party?  So hard to put a title on it, but I can visualize it in my head!  I really want to make some fun lawn games.  I particularly love the lawn jenga and checkers.  For the checkers I would like to use a sheet of plywood and paint the checks our colours, perhaps I will document how I do that and post a little DIY for all you lovely's.

Details, details, details.  This is the part of planning that stresses me out, anyone else? I'm already having nightmares of things going wrong and we are still four and a half months away.  I think the little details like below is whats going to make our day special and unique, which is hard these days with pinterest.  but who am I kidding all these pictures were found on there so I'll take it!
Also.  How awesome is that donut cake?  I'm thinking its a must.

Bake: Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Bites

You know when you just have the feeling to make something sweet?  Well that was tonight for me, and maybe every other night as well...but today I actually made something.  So simple and so so yummy these little things are.  I got the idea from this lovely blog.  Now hers looks much better then mine but hey they do taste great!

All it is sliced banana with a dollop of peanut butter mixed with brown sugar topped of with chocolate and a little sprinkle sea salt!

You should give it a try!

Reminiscing: Salt Spring Island, British Columbia

Oh Salt Spring.  Ross and I made this trip back in August and looking back there were so many good memories made there.  Recently engaged it was so nice to spend some time together dreaming about our life and exploring this beautiful island!

It truly is a whole other world out there.  I was reading up on it before we left and I think one site described it as the place all the hippies ended up along with their children...and you would not believe the number of hippy vans we did see.  One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.  From where we were you could see what seems like forever, other islands and oh, the sunsets and sunrises were simply breathtaking.

It was a relaxing trip, which was difficult for me at times, but sitting back and enjoying the view was nice I must say (try it sometime).  We kayaked, toured, hiked, shopped and oh boy did we eat.  So much of the islands foods are locally grown, so it seemed everything tasted that much better.

Here is just a snap shot of our unforgettable trip.

A week seemed to be too short of a visit but perhaps some day we will make it back!

Instally

What you can gather from these photos would be this: Lots of snow, a few new purchases, ROSS CAME HOME, loss in wisdom teeth=lots of pudding, and I have yet to roll up a win (better luck next time?).
Hope you are doing well!

Oh Living Room

Couch: Ikea, Lamp: Pier 1, Pillows: Society 6
Now that Ross and I have a place, I am obsessing over finally being able to decorate my own home.  Now since we are on a tight budget it makes a fun challenge!  I have decided I want a dark turquoise, greenish, blueish, type wall...a paint chip in Walmart describes it as Berkeley Blue.  Whatever the name is I love the colour and it must be on at least 1 wall.  This couch from Ikea we both like too, its comfy and big width and length wise but it isn't too high making it nice for a small apartment.
These are just today's Photoshop doodles.  Who knows what I will come up with tomorrow.

I am going to be a Mrs.

All our engagement photos were taken by the talented Jessica Rose Smith, go and checkout her website here!

Although this happened in August I thought I would inform you all of what is going on in my life, I am going to be a Mrs.  and I could not be any happier!!  Ross proposed on August 2nd and we are getting married August 10, 2013, so crazy how fast time goes by!  So as I plan our wedding I hope to share my adventures with you, because goodness knows it has been an adventure already!
You may also notice there has been some changes to my blog.  I want this to be a place I can share my life and the experiences that come a long with it, with you!  So if you are ok with that then please stick around!

Basic Blue Blazer

Basic Blue Blazer is what this is.  There is a million things I am currently thinking I could wear this with, jeans, shorts, white summer dress, oh the possibilities!  It may look extra cold where I am, but be assured that today it was pretty warm, so I was more than happy to go outside and take pictures.
Hope you all are having a excellent day wherever you may be :)

Hearts and Things

Jacket: Gap (old), Sweater: Gap (in store only), Boots: Aldo (similar)

Yet another heart print, oh my.  I'm beginning to love the look of a collared shirt under a sweater and with this bright yellow ad neon pink you can't go wrong!
What is your current favourite print?

Love Prints

Blazer: Dynamite (old), Jeans: Smartset (old), Blouse: Gap

So yes, it true I am loving prints.  Never have I ever really been a true fan but lately "love" prints especially I have been obsessed with.  In fact my last shopping trip I stopped by gap of course and the only two things I purchased were heart prints, this one has to be my favourite   I should probably expand outside of this considering it as been almost a week since Valentines day, but hey you can never have to many heart prints in my opinion.  Loving rolling up cuffs as well!  Makes a structured blazer a little more fun.
